In The Book Thief, the tone of narration was, as I've stated in previous comments, very conversational and casual. At the same time, it still felt sincere. How did the tone of the narrator and the writing style effect how you viewed the narrator, and the book as a whole?
I've added a poll out of curiosity. What do you think?

I think the tone, which as you said is very casual, allowed for a very grim subject to be projected in a way that would make it easy to read. The narrator tells with a balance where tragedies aren't sugar-coated, but at the same time it isn't a story only about good. It's a story about a girl who steals, and gains knowledge. Bad things and good things. It gave the book an ending where you get to see the horrible affects of WWII, and at the same time the good that was able to slip it's way through the cracks.
