When Liesel experiences these dreams, she sees a "cast" of people. In the chapter, "The Ageless Brother", Liesel realizes that her deceased brother, Werner will be six forever. After realizing this, her brother does not appear in her dreams anymore to haunt her, but is apart of the cast. "He was one member of a cast, for Liesel was always visited in that room. Her papa stood and called her half a woman. Max was writing The Word Shaker in the corner. Rudy was naked by the door. Occasionally, her mother on a bedside train platform... her brother Werner, played in the cemetery snow." (Zusak, p.g 273) I believe all of the cast member are the people in her life who have had the greatest impact. I also had the thought that these people represent opsticals Liesel overcame. Could the dreams be the author's way of portraying Liesel's challenges and hardships?
