There was a similar post about the bread that Hans Huberman gave to the prisoners walking outside his house. The question focused on the importance of the item that Hans was giving, rather then his actions. The question talked about the bread symbolizing hope, but what seems more important where Huberman's actions of generosity. Throughout the story Huberman was a generous man, he was willing to work for little, and made sacrifices for his family. His actions later encouraged his daughter and her friends to do the same, and hand bread out to those who needed it. This poses the question, how do one's actions influence others to respond? What was the significance of Huberman's act of giving?
