The cover-page that I think most of us are familiar with shows a line of dominos and a finger which is about to push the first domino. The cover seems to reference the scene when Rudy and his siblings are playing with dominos while their parents speak to two men who want to send Rudy to an elite school. The dominos are referred to as dead bodies multiple times in the scene, "The dominos were falling like dead bodies in the living room." (Zusak, pg. 410) What do you think the dominos on the cover symbolize in relation to the war and the story that is told in the book?

I believe this could also be death and that "all the dominos fall into place." As we see from the book, so many things happen that trigger other events. So this could really be many things.

I agree. The cover could be representing the dominoes, or events that lead to others during the duration of the novel. Every action a character follows through with can be directly connected with a decision that another one makes. So I think that the cover shows the beginning of that process.
