Although Liesel's brother passed, he stayed with her after his death. He was there for her as a conscious. This was shown when Liesel waited at the door of Ilsa Hermann's house to return the cookie plate. As she left the plate on the doorstep, she waited around the corner, imagining her brother standing there. Although she no longer had dreams about her brother, she instead started seeing the ghosts of loved ones that passed away, haunting her room. Why do you think out of all the moments Werner could've appeared, he shows up at the Hermann's home? How would the story have been different if Liesel kept having nightmares about her brother?
