Why do you think the author decided to use flashbacks throughout the novel, and how do you think it effected the readers point of view? Did it make the novel more difficult to comprehend or do you think it helped the readers overall understanding of the story?

The author decides to use flashbacks throughout the novel to showcase character growth. Also, it gives readers insight into why the characters make certain decisions in the present because of how they lived/believed in the past. Readers watch how characters in the book learn from mistakes in the past and are put in scenarios that will alter their future. In my eyes, the flashbacks helped readers know WHY a character responded in the way they did by also knowing HOW.
