Death, being the narrator of the book, gave us a glimpse of a perspective on human's actions from another specie's point of view. Through Death, we saw how terrifying the war was, close up. We were able to see the last moments of life that in the real world we wouldn't get a chance to see. Reading about how Hans and Rosa died, as well as Rudy and his siblings, gave us an interesting guess at how quickly Death can come, and at such unexpected times. Through Death, we were able to see things that we wouldn't had Liesel been narrator. Death, as an action, changed the course of the story dramatically. The deaths of those around Liesel caused her to change how she viewed the world and those around her. The death of her brother, and suspected death of her mother and brother inspired her to stand up against the crowd and write. How do you think Death and death were used as literary devices to show us the power of words, cliques, destruction, et cetera?
